Item Description
Back half of 3-1/8x3.5" thick hinged embossed leather case contains sixth plate daguerreotype showing portrait of soldier in elaborate Mexican War uniform w/fringed epaulets, star emblem attached on chest and sash w/corps badge attached and wheel cap on photographer's stand beside him. 1840s. Case shows expected edge wear as missing front half. Daguerreotype has had gold accents added to uniform buttons, buckle and star emblem. Some scattered tarnish/aging to interior brass frame (stamped "Walsh" at bottom center) around daguerreotype. VG overall but daguerreotype is clean w/sharp image.
