Item Description
3-1/8x3-5/8x5/8" thick hinged embossed leather case w/patriotic American eagle seal plush velvet lining and exterior metal hook latches contains sixth plate daguerreotype showing portrait of US Army soldier in full Infantry uniform w/shoulder epaulets and Shako hat. Hand-tinted w/gold accents to hat, uniform buttons and buckle. 1850s. Case shows scattered wear/aging, but remains sturdy and Fine overall. Inner brass frame has stamped "Higgins" photographer name. Inner frame remains bright and Exc. overall. Daguerreotype has some margin aging, but retains sharp image. Fine overall.
