Item Description
12" tall to the tips of its ears. The first Mickey Mouse dolls were made by Charlotte Clark in 1930. This doll dates to just after this. These dolls were produced in different sizes and w/slightly different material, but the larger examples (like this one) had satin-like material used for bodies/heads. The face also has an even shiner finish and w/printed facial features. Ears, hands and feet are felt, pants (which are stuffed w/batting to give flared out look) have pair of mother-of-pearl buttons and doll is complete w/typically missing long rubber tail. Underside of feet have very faint text reading "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse George Borgfeldt Co. New York" as well as patent number. Front of neck has stitched repair which is somewhat hidden by Mickey's chin. Additional stitching to back of neck for reinforcement. Some fading to felt hands/shoes w/obvious but even fade to green cotton pants. Still displays Fine overall and stands well for display. Rare and only the second example we've offered in our 50 years. Jan Wahl Collection.
