Item Description
Lot of five spiral-bound calendars, 5x8.75" to 8.5x12" and issued 1949-1954. Calendars are all complete and feature full color specialty art done for these promo calendars by the artist on each page devoted to single comic strip/character. Characters vary from year to year and include - Steve Canyon (Milton Caniff), Gasoline Alley (Bill Perry), Winnie Winkle (Martin Branner), Denny Dimwit, Little Orphan Annie (Harold Gray), Sweeney & Son (Al Posen), The Gumps (Gus Edson), Nancy and Sluggo (Ernie Bushmiller), Smokey Stover (Bill Holman),Smitty (Walter Berndt), Terry and The Pirates (George Wunder) and others. Three are w/o original plastic spiral binding, 1953 calendar shows moderate wear to binding holes. Of the three missing their binding, two have original hanging cord keeping them together. Scattered aging and handling wear. Covers are VG to VF for larger size calendars w/VF to Exc. pages. Smaller 1954 calendar is NM. An instant collection of these scarce promotional pieces.
