Item Description
15x23" offset litho on card stock advertising a concert at The Omni featuring The Beach Boys, Mother's Finest and "Bruce Springstin" that was "Presented By Pi Kappa Alpha" a Georgia Tech fraternity. The Beach Boys image at top features Brian Wilson second from the left but the real story here is in the third billed act that would go on to change rock 'n roll forever. An outrageous miss spelling of the legendary Springsteen's name, not to mention the lack of respect afforded him opening for the local funk band "Mother's Finest". Three months prior to this concert Sprinsteen had released his first album, the critically acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful Greetings, From Asbury Park, N.J. w/his second record set to begin recording a month later to be released in November. This show was to be part of Springsteen's Southern tour and was ultimately canceled. Faint toning at each corner, a pin hole at top and bottom center as well as a vertical and horizontal fold. Printing at bottom has scattered areas where the offset litho press did not distribute enough black ink during the printing. Fine. While we have seen a few handbills for this show over the years this is the only example of this poster we have encountered. A humbling artifact for the man often considered the greatest rock showman of all time.
