Item Description
First is 1.5" white metal medal with jugate busts and text "Washington/Harrison/1789-1889". Reverse text in panel "Centennial Of The Inauguration Of George Washington As First President Of The United States New York April 30, 1789".  Medal has tiny rim dent at 10 o'clock. Two brass loops hold medal to ribbon (slight bleed of blue color) which joins an embossed brass bar at top with small GW image at center. Bar pin on reverse is professionally re-soldered. Near full silver luster on the medal and VF. Second is 3.25" tall and heavy white metal badge with reverse blank except for naming maker Braxmar, NYC, more noted for their fire company badges than campaign badges. Obverse in very high relief includes shields with dates 1789 and 1889 plus fierce eagle on "Centennial Inauguration" bar. Loop holds big medallion with very high relief GW head enclosed in a star on background of burst lines. Star arms read "New York City/April 30th 1889 ( with 1889 date instead of 1789 date, the implication is this badge was made for a NYC celebration rather than the D.C. inaugural) First In War/ First In Peace/And First In The Hearts Of His Countrymen". Some normal tarnish. Scarce and NM.
