Item Description
22x28.25" thin cardboard poster for June 19, 1953 concert that took place at Gregory's Ballroom in Richmond, VA featuring Doo-Wop group The Swallows (w/song titles "Beside You, Laugh" and "Bicycle Tillie" listed) and All Star Dance Orchestra. Poster features nice photo of The Swallows singing in harmony. Poster was printed by Globe Poster Corp. of Baltimore, MD. A small group of these posters were discovered in Richmond being used as insulation in a building and as such, almost all have significant damage and/or restoration. Unlike those, this example is in its original state w/no restoration. Tack holes at top/bottom margins w/staple holes along left/right margins. Top center margin has 6.5" vertical tear w/.5x1.75" hole at top. Bottom right has .5" holes and this corner has 1.5" corner tip off and 3" piece of archival tape on back reattaching large corner piece. VG overall.
