Item Description
Pair of prototype packaging designs for Scotch Tape Fabian 3-D Plastic Picture premium that was to be available w/purchase of either one or two packages of Scotch tape. Prototypes measure 5.5x7" and "8.5x10.25" and both have color/tinted photo paste-ons of the singer Fabian w/airbrushed bkgs. and rest all hand-done text. Some scattered dust soiling but VF/Exc. overall. Comes w/two sheets; one (dated Nov. 12, 1959) has typed list of "Top Teen-Age Recording Stars" for inclusion in this series. Some names of note include - Dick Clark, Elvis Presley, Sal Mineo, Frankie Avalon, Johnny Cash, Check Berry, Fats Domino, Sam Cook and others. Second sheet has handwritten list of "Teen-Age Jitterbugs" which includes many of the same. Both are folded at center w/staple holes at top. Lot also includes 3.5x5" die-cut card w/completely original art of two teen couples dancing w/hand-lettered text noting "Rock And Roll Record Free With This Roll Scotch Cellophane Tape - Plays On Any 78 RPM Phonograph." Bottom is die-cut to fit into roll of tape. Center of card has "Bug Town Blues" song title and pencil outline of small record to be included in card's design. NM. A very unique lot for the rock & roll collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
