Item Description
3-5/8" long with rectangular brass frame, pinback on the reverse, holding a ribbon in the black and orange colors representing the City Of Baltimore. Below a thin tin rim holds a highly domed celluloid with center design of a magnet inscribed "14th Annual Reunion" with surrounding text "Old Time Telegraphers Association/U.S. Military Telegraph Corps." Reverse of the piece is a flat insert of celluloid with text "Semi-Centennial Of The Telegraph/Baltimore Md. May 24, 1844/Sep. 12, 13, 1894." The front of the piece has eight pinpoint holes at the center of the magnet design, although exceedingly tiny. There is also a tiny bit of trivial scratching at the upper left. Overall condition remains VF. Back of the ribbon names maker as Torsch & Lee of Baltimore along with a patent date of Jan. 30, '94. A rare souvenir from this military group's convention and we used this dated  piece to date the Baltimore Orioles "Rooters" badge shown in our baseball section #771.
