Item Description
This is one of about three cards we've seen in five decades. However, at 4.5" tall about 1" has been trimmed off the top removing the words "Famous Comic" along with a circular design that was on the upper right corner reading "10¢ A Card". The card is only in Fair-Good condition as there are many crease marks, a tiny bit of scattered dust soiling and a few very small bits of missing surface paper. It of course has multiple holes where the buttons were originally pinned. Still, a rarity in itself. With the card come five of the 15 buttons known in this set and these are five of the buttons that have a design identical to those used in the Kellogg's Pep set of 86. However, the back of each of these buttons has the "Comic Togs" logo along with a line of copyright registration text and "New York, N.Y." The button curls carry a 1945 or 1946 copyright date and the characters pictured are Andy Gump (NM), Dick Tracy which has numerous but very fine horizontal scratches across his face and hat with vast majority of paint still remaining, VG. Henry (NM), Orphan Annie (Mint), and Popeye which has moderate dent over the bill of his hat but displaying VF. See following items #974-975.
