Item Description
13.25x17" artboard has 11.25x15" sheet attached at center featuring Russ Manning's pen and ink original art for cover to "Captain Johner And The Aliens" #2, published by Whitman in May 1982. Manning (1929-1981) was a comic book artist who created the series "Magnus, Robot Fighter" and illustrated such newspaper comic strips as "Tarzan" and "Star Wars" in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. This is among some of Manning's last published work, as it was published posthumously. Cover shows human defenders trying to hold off mechanical aliens who have already taken human prisoners. Title and publishing indicia are paste-over stats. Bottom margin has some red ink editorial notations and has been signed in black felt tip pen by Manning. Sheet is evenly aged, but art is Exc.
