Item Description
7" long silk w/"Approved By The Louisiana State Democratic General Committee/J.V. Childs Engraver, New Orleans, La." in small text at bottom. Oval portrait is flanked by draped Texas Lone Star and American flags w/an eagle perched above and scenes of commerce and industry below. Headline text reads "James K. Polk The People's Candidate For The Eleventh Presidency Of The United States Of America" w/quotation below portrait "The Question Is In Fact Whether We Shall Have The Republic Without The Bank Or The Bank Without The Republic." Several tiny scattered holes along bottom below quotation and two small separations .5" at bottom left and less than .25" at top left neither of which affect the design. Otherwise moderate age toning. VG. Artifacts from Polk's presidential campaign are notoriously difficult to obtain and this ribbon ranks among the rarest. First we've offered in our 51 years.
