Item Description
Large and impressive 6.5" wide by 10.25" tall by 22.5" wonderfully designed and crafted Mickey Mouse fire truck pull toy made in Spain by Jose Monllor Llinares, 1935. Most of toy is painted wood, including body and fenders, headlights, front seat, benches and hose reel. Steering wheel is cast metal. Large two piece wheels are painted metal, as is large boiler at center, which has a rubber hose coming from hose reel attached to the top/bottom of boiler. Top hose has wooden nozzle. All hose sections remain pliable. Large wooden Mickey Mouse driver figure has jointed, movable arms and back has four smaller Mickey figures on benches. All are constructed of .25" thick jig-sawed wood. The painted images show great expression and smaller Mickey figures at rear all have number "5" on their fire helmets. Stenciled Spanish text on sides of truck roughly translates to Firefighter Company No. 5. Hood sides have stenciled stick figure image of man chasing horse. Hood has mesh grille, inside hood is noisemaker that produces honking noise as toy moves. Fire truck has scattered paint wear to wooden components w/some scattered paint wear to metal  boiler and wheel rims, which have some trace oxidation. Fine overall, but still great for display. Rare and first example of this toy we've seen in our 51 years, and we have never heard of another of this type/style. Some outstanding Disney toys were produced in Spain in the early 1930s and this fire truck joins them as a prime example.
