Item Description
5x18.5" thin artboard w/India ink original art by "Blondie" creator Chic Young for his earlier comic strip "Dumb Dora" (which began in 1924). Art is for May 7, 1929 and features three panels, w/Dora expressing an interest in pursuing music, and Rod suggesting a piccolo, flute or ukulele. When Dora rejects these suggestions, Rod angrily says to pick something easy to carry as he knows he'll likely end up carrying it for her. Young has signed last panel. First panel has Newspaper Feature Service, Inc. copyright strip. Back has "Dora Oughta Take Up Whistling" title in blue pencil. Margins have some scattered soiling but art remains clean and Exc. overall. Jan Wahl Collection.
