Item Description
1.5x2" closed and containing 14 of 15 figural matches designed as upright aerial bombs. Reverse of matchbook shows Hitler attempting to control the entire globe. An arrow points at the rough spot on Hitler's behind which serves as the striker. Top edge of the matchbook reads "Match 'Em - Bond For Bomb." As mentioned above, matchbook is missing one match and shows some wear to striker. Evenly aged w/some scattered handling wear. Fine/VF. Comes w/2x3.25x2.25" cardboard mailing box that originally held 10 matchbooks. Box features similar image of Hitler w/globe, showing match being lit on his behind w/"You Can Put Your Friends In Stitches - Strike A Match On Hitler's Britches!" text. One side panel has lines for recipient name/address. This remains unused. Box shows scattered edge/corner tip wear but is complete and retains its shape. Fine overall. This mailing box is rare, this the first example we've seen in our 51 years. Classic World War II homefront items. Mark Treitel Collection.
