Item Description
This is the earliest award to a boy scout that we have seen. The USA scouts were founded in 1910.  The fabric that joined the bar to the fob shaped suspension is gone. The bar has reverse pin plus a brass rod that held the fabric. Front has raised text "To" followed by hand engraved name "Moyer Gardiner" followed by raised text "For Services Rendered". The brass fob front shows the logo for the "1814-1914" Star Spangled Banner Celebration (see extensive collection #630) and "Francis Scott Key" in profile. Reverse text: "Given In Recognition Of Splendid Services Rendered By You As A Member Of The Boy Scouts During The National Star-Spangled Banner Celebration Baltimore, Md. Sept. 6-13, 1914". Below is mark of maker W&H. Rare and unique. Exc. except for missing fabric.
