Item Description
Thos. L. Briggs & Sons "Official League" baseball has been signed by members of the 1930 Philadelphia Athletics, who won the World Series that year (their last). Ball was signed on the sweet spot by Athletics Manager Connie Mack (1862-1959), who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1937 and stands as the longest-serving manager in MLB history, holding records for total wins/losses/games managed. He managed the Athletics for the club's first 50 seasons before retiring following the 1950 season and his five World Series titles remain the third most by any manager. Ball has also been signed by Athletics First Baseman Jimmie Foxx (1907-1967) on right panel. Foxx became the second player in MLB history to hit 500 career home runs, after Babe Ruth. He was inducted into the Baseball HOF in 1951. Right panel has also been signed by Athletics Pitcher George Earnshaw (1900-1976). Ball has obvious aging w/fade to red/blue stitching. Signatures show scattered wear but remain legible for the most part. VG overall, but still a nice example featuring some coveted signatures on a ball. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
