Item Description
14x20" first printing poster for July 24, 1966 theatrical performance of Michael McClure's play "The Beard" that took place at "The American Theatre At The Fillmore" in San Francisco, CA. Poster art by Wes Wilson features portrait of Jean Harlow and Billy the Kid at center. McClure's play, opening at the Fillmore for only its second ever performance, was the cause of much controversy and outrage in its day. Featuring a meeting of Jean Harlow and Billy the Kid in the afterlife, the play's racy dialogue caused the actors to be arrested after leaving the stage. Bill Graham allowed only one performance at the Fillmore. Pin holes at corners w/small pulls at bottom corners. Fine overall.
