Item Description
Not to be confused w/a typical Sunday Comics section, these are totally different special inserts titled "Graphic Section" measuring 15.75x21" and published as part of the "Chicago Sunday Tribune" Dec. 12, 1943 and Jan. 14, 1945. See "Dick Tracy" section from this cartoonist biography series, item #1531. 1943 section is complete 10-page section features wonderful "Moon Mullins" front page, top half featuring Frank Willard photo portrait surrounded by his "Moon Mullins" characters. Bottom half features "The Story Of The Creator Of A Great Comic Strip" feature on Willard, which is continued on interior page (w/another photo of Willard). Faint horizontal crease and aging at center as issued, but pages o/w remain clean, supple and VF/Exc. overall. 1945 section is complete 10-page section features wonderful "Brenda Starr Reporter" front page, top half featuring Brenda Starr surrounded by her cast of characters and "photos" of several others. Bottom half features "A Star Reporter Writes About A Starr, Reporter" feature on "Brenda Starr Reporter" creator Dale Messick, w/a photo of her at center. Article is continued on interior page. Front page is torn along spine and horizontal crease at center as issued, but would frame for a nice appearance. Both are rare and first we've offered of either in our 51 years.
