Item Description
Not to be confused w/a typical Sunday Comics section, these are totally different special inserts titled "Graphic Section" measuring 15.75x21" and published as part of the "Chicago Sunday Tribune" Jan. 23 and Feb. 27, 1944. See previous selections from this cartoonist biography series, items #1530-1531. Jan. section is complete 10-page section features wonderful "Skeezix" front page, top half subtitled "Young Mr. America" w/Frank King photo portrait w/his "Skeezix" characters w/text feature on character, which is continued on interior page (w/another photo of King). Faint horizontal crease at center as issued, but pages o/w remain clean, supple and VF/Exc. overall. Feb. section is complete 12-page section features wonderful "Smilin' Jack" front page, top half featuring large portraits of Smilin' Jack and the Coral Princess surrounded by photo of "Smilin' Jack" creator of Zack Mosley and cast of characters from the strip. Bottom half features feature on Mosley, which is continued on interior page w/another photo of Mosley. Faint horizontal crease at center as issued, w/some edge wear, but pages o/w remain clean, supple and VF/Exc. overall. Both are rare and first we've offered of either in our 51 years.
