Item Description
Large 12x18" pressbook w/eight pages issued for the original release of the 1932 Columbia Pictures Western starring Buck Jones. Cover is dominated by large portrait of Jones wearing cowboy hat. Typical pressbook contents, w/promotional text articles as well as photos of Jones and costars Barbara Weeks and Wheeler Oakman. Two-page centerfold features several graphic ad mats and imprints. Another page features photos of "Buck Jones Trading Post" set up in department store, which sold a variety of Western themes items including cowboy hats, outfits, lassos, etc. One photo shows Jones acting as Master of Ceremonies at Los Angeles Trading Post opening. Page opposite shows various promotional items for theaters, including herald, lobby hanger, miniature insert card, window card and banners as well as "Buck Jones Ranger Repeating Gun" and photos of Jones that could be ordered, including two different showing him riding in custom car w/lifesize horse and "Moxie" name on sides. Back cover shows several different posters (including six sheet and three sheets) and lobby cards, all of which are now rare. Pressbook has horizontal fold at center as issued and shows scattered moderate handling wear w/tape repairs to spine and four 2" tape repairs to edges of center fold. VG overall. Rare.
