Item Description
17.75" tall doll has composition body, separate composition head and legs, painted wooden arms w/composition hands. Outfit consists of painted cardboard vest, collar and hat while arms have cotton sleeves. Original satin bow is frayed. Hair is flocked as is vest. Face has painted mouth and applied original printed paper eyes. Made in France, early 1940s. Original paper tag does not name maker but text includes "Pinocchio" name and "Marcheur" text which translates to walker. Dolls legs are attached inside body to free moving mechanism to enable it to "walk." Tag has horizontal crease and is evenly aged. Fine. Professional repair to hand separation at wrist and to nose. Scattered moderate aging to arms/legs and hair w/scattered aging to face. VG/Fine overall. Rare and first example we've seen of this unusual doll in our 51 years.
