1.25" with curl naming maker Bastian and with back paper of a Phila. jobber. Marvelous color depiction of two Arctic explorers standing at the North Pole of the world globe each with his hand on the staff of a flowing American flag. Issued in the Fall of 1909 when the New York Herald announced the discovery by Cook only to be followed a week later by the NY Times headline announcing Peary's success after 23 years of effort.
