Item Description
26.75x40.5" for the original release of the 1919 silent film starring Henry Starr, a real-life bank robber who was shot while attempting to rob a bank in Stroud, OK. Upon his release from prison, he decided to make a movie of the attempt, hiring many of the people he had actually tried to rob. This marks his only cinematic appearance as Starr was fatally shot two years after the film's release while trying to rob another bank. Wonderful stone lithography by The Otis Lithograph Co. of Cleveland, OH shows Starr (left) and another bandit counting the stolen money. Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted w/moderate restoration along fold lines, including .75x1.5" area of restoration at top fold crease intersection. Bottom quarter of poster appears to have been detached from rest of poster and reconnected by linen-mounting as bottom quarter is slightly off to the left. VG/Fine overall but still nice for display.
