22x28" jumbo cardboard poster printed by "Posters Inc. Phila. PA." that advertises two concerts "Sun Nov. 8 7:30 & 10:00pm" at the "Mosque" in "Richmond" Virginia. "Supersonic Attractions Presents The Greatest Show Of The Year In Person On Stage Sam Cooke Jackie Wilson" w/portraits of the legendary musicians at lower right and left. Additional acts listed include: "Hank Ballard And The Midnighters"; "Garnet Mimms"; "Jimmy Hughes"; "Mitty Collier"; "The Upsetters"; The Valentinos" and "The Upsetters Orchestra." A 1/2" vertical loss at lower left, a 1/4" horizontal tear at lower left and a corner bump at lower right- all contained to the margin. Otherwise only two areas of glue residue across center on reverse and light margin/handling wear. Extremely Fine w/no restoration. An impressive example that is about as nice as they come. This historic venue, now known as the Altria Theater, was host to many of the biggest acts of the 50s and 60s including Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley and remains in operation to this day. This poster captures two of the architects of Soul music together during their artistic primes a little more than a month before Cooke's untimely death on Dec. 11, 1964. An important and historic piece that is the only example known to us.
