Item Description
13x26" pressbook w/24 pages (including linen-like covers) for the original release of the 1935 Universal horror film "Werewolf Of London," the first Hollywood mainstream werewolf movie. Starring Henry Hull and featuring make-up legend Jack Pierce's eerie werewolf make-up, a precursor to his iconic make-up for Lon Chaney, Jr., in "The Wolf Man" six years later. 9.5x14" herald attached to inside front cover. Pages feature typical pressbook promotional content, w/some highlights including a cut-out of the 24 sheet poster (which itself is featured on back cover along w/six other large format posters; now all but impossible to find), theater displays including a special midnight showing display, streamers, lobby cards as well as midget and jumbo cards, additional posters including half-sheet and inserts, marquee valance and pennants among other items. Pressbook shows moderate wear, w/two horizontal folds and loose cover, split along spine, which has scattered pinch creases/wear. Front cover has pin hole w/pull at upper right corner while back cover has pin holes at top/bottom right corners. Page signatures are also loose along binding. Pressbook is o/w complete w/no clips and Good/VG overall. As w/all Universal Monster films, demand for ephemera from this film is extremely high. Pressbooks for this film are especially rare and a must for any serious Universal fan.
