Item Description
40x84.25" for 1899 theater performance of dramatist Bronson Howard's American Civil War stage production "Greater Shenandoah," concerning the Valley Campaigns of 1864. Originally produced in 1889 as "Shenandoah," this is for 1899 revival as noted by copyright at lower left. Great stone lithography by The Strobridge Litho. Co. of Cincinnati and New York features Union cavalryman rescuing wounded bugler from battle w/"The Shock, The Shout, The Groan Of War!" title at bottom. As w/all three sheets, this poster is pieced together from three pieces, resulting in slightly uneven margins, but images line up nicely. Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted and has minimal restoration along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. Margins show some scattered wear and age spotting but poster still displays VF overall as linen-mounted w/deep color. Rare poster.
