8-1/8x11.5" artboard features lead pencil preliminary original art by illustrator Kaja Foglio, who has provided art for "Magic: The Gathering" cards published by Wizards of the Coast. Art is in Kaja's iconic style, featuring Mother Earth-like being cradling newly sprouted plant in her hands as concentric ring design surrounds her in bkg. This is Kaja's preliminary design that was ultimately not used. The artist has handwritten note under art that reads in part "Here Is An Old Sketch That I Never Used, I Can't Believe That I Found One!" Kaja would go on to update this art for publication as the "Renewal" card from the "Homelands" Seventh Edition set in 1995. Kaja has signed at bottom right and again under note. Exc. Kaja original art rarely comes to market, the last piece that sold at auction was the original art for the "Shahrazad" card, which sold for $72,000 in July 2018.
