Item Description
3.5x4-7/8" thin piece of cardstock has mixed media original art for card #39 in Topps "Monster Greeting Cards" from 1965. Art was created by noted underground comix artist Robert Crumb, showing man lounging across armchair while on the telephone, w/hand-lettered "Let's Go Out Saturday Night..." text and small "Over" notation at bottom right w/arrow. Unsigned. This art is for the card front, and is the only portion of the card that featured Crumb's art. Backs in this series featured photo images and text that were the punchline to the joke. #39 back featured a flying witch w/"We'll Use Your Broom" text. Some lt. aging along extreme right margin and scrapbook mounting remnants on reverse, but art is o/w Exc. An exceptional piece of published Crumb color art.
