Item Description
14x21.75" cardboard poster for June 30, 1953 game that took place at the Milwaukee County Stadium in Milwaukee, WI. The Clowns franchise started in the 1930s and they were the last Negro League team to disband, continuing to play exhibition games into the 1980s. They were Negro American League champions 1950-1952 and 1954 (1953 being won by the Kansas City Monarchs). Great design includes playing cards images along the bottom showing Boogie Woogie Paul, Miss Toni Stone (first woman to play professionally in a men's league) and King Tut. Text by these images reads "A Full House Of Diamond Aces.. A King And A Queen." Bottom left corner has faint tax stamp. Poster has some scattered handling wear and entirety of margins have been repainted. Poster has been professionally cleaned and has some very minor color touch-ups, giving poster and VF/Exc. display w/bright colors.
