Item Description
This 9x22x18" tall target game by Norris Mfg. Company was first made in 1924, featuring a variety of styles and decorations over the ensuing decades. This wartime "Hit Hitler" version has raised "The Master Target Practice" cast metal front w/separate working penny shooting gun. Cast metal frame on top holds title card that reads "Test Your Skill As A Marksman" and included instructions. Machine is mounted on wooden base, has wooden sides w/glass panels that displayed the gumballs, color images of gumballs have been mounted inside these panels for display purposes. Glass top is framed in metal and interior has original tin tray to receive pennies. Back of machine is painted metal w/hole for lock, which is missing but front panel can be removed for gumball placement and has lock and two keys. Machine was converted to anti-Axis format by removing the standard target image and replacing it w/silk-screened image of Hitler w/open mouth on tin panel mounted at the rear of machine. Target panel can be removed and flipped to show stereotypical image of Japanese man. Machine is complete w/all interior parts for return of penny and/or for dispensing of gumballs. Scattered corner tip wear to wooden base and some aging to metal components. Scattered paint wear to back of machine. Header card shows obvious aging and is VG while rest of machine displays Fine/VF. Great anti-Axis item, and among the best from this collection. Mark Treitel Collection.
