Item Description
Large 44-5/8x62.25" wooden stretcher has attached linen-mounted movie poster for original French release of the 1915 Essanay Films silent movie starring Charlie Chaplin. Released in France under the title "Mademoiselle Charlot" by Himalaya Film Co., poster features wonderful stone lithography showing Charles Insley and Billy Armstrong choking Chaplin as co-stars Marta Golden and Edna Purviance look on. Originally folded, poster has been linen-mounted w/moderate scattered restoration to margins and some scattered restoration/color touch-ups along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. Linen has then been placed over wooden stretcher and stapled to wood. VG overall, but main image area remains clean for the most part and poster would make for nice framed display.
