Item Description
Approx. 11x16.75" artboard has pen and ink original art by Dave Cockrum. Art is for page three of "Secret Origins" Annual #3, published by DC Comics in 1989. Art was inked by Larry Mahlstedt. Page features five panels and is flashback sequence featuring Teen Titan Herald (Mal) angrily reacting to only three - Kid Flash, Robin and Wonder Girl - heeding emergency call. Kid Flash makes it clear he does not want to be there while Robin reminisces on his decision that tore the Teen Titans apart (as Antithesis lurks over them, taunting Robin's past failures in a series of flashbacks). Last panel shows Speedy arriving. Of note, Robin sits before multi-screen monitor that has very faint preliminary art for Titans members. Back has full realized and inked head sketch of either Kid Flash/Flash Wally West or Speedy/Arsenal Roy Harper in their civilian identity. All text is stat paste-overs, some loosening slightly in first panel. Top margin has hand-inked title and issue/page numbers. Margins have some scattered blue pencil production notations. Top and right margins have been trimmed, not affecting art, which remains clean and Exc. Cockrum has signed in black ink at bottom margin.
