Item Description
The Golds developed/produced a number of different iron-on transfer promotions over the years. This lot features two 1950s premium proposals. 8.5x11" vellum sheet mounted to slightly larger sheet features all lead pencil original art for proposed "Oh Henry!" candy bar retailer's promotional sheet for "Famous Detective Hot-Iron Transfers." Art features much hand-lettered text, some of which includes "We'll Tell Millions Of Kids About It On Our True Detective Story Radio Program." Art features boy w/transfers on his shirt at upper left, one transfer bearing striking resemblance to Dick Tracy. Additional text promoted the radio show beside non-distinct images of four transfers. Some minor pencil smudging and some faint staining along center right margin. Sheet has some handling wear but still displays VF overall. 6x10.25" sheet of vellum has colored pencil original art for "Dick Tracy Detective Club Hot Iron Transfer" sheet, a similar but different promotion. Art features four portrait transfers, including policeman, Dick Tracy Jr. and two different portraits of Dick Tracy. Sheet has back-coloring shading effect and has lt. even aging. Horizontal fold at center. VF. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
