Item Description
Space-Con 1 (called "The Red Hour Festival") was Northern California's first Star Trek and sci-fi convention. The first (of eight) was held Feb 22, 1975 at Lincoln High School in San Francisco, CA. Organized by a San Francisco fan group, it was named "The Red Hour Festival" after an event in an episode of the show. What started then is now recognized as the basis for Star Trek fan events that have followed over the years. 5.5x8.5" program book w/eight pages. The convention was attended by "Star Trek" cast members Sulu/George Takei, Scotty/James Doohan (1920-2005), Chekov/Walter Koenig and T'Pring/Arlene Martel (1936-2014). Each has signed front in either black or blue felt tip pen, Takei adding "To Cathy - All My Best" while Doohan added "Love, Cathy" and his character name. Martel has added sketch of hourglass, a nice nod to "Amok Time," the famous episode she appeared in. San Francisco TV horror/sci-fi personality Bob Wilkins has also signed front. Program has three faint horizontal crease as folded. Scattered spine wear w/small split at top. Fine overall w/Exc. signatures. Rare early convention program further enhanced by the signatures. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
