Item Description
17x24-1/8" cardboard poster printed by "Tilghman Press" that advertises a concert at "The Armory Klamath Falls, Oregon" on "Tues. Nite Nov. 4th." The "Fantabulous Show And Dance" also featured "Sugar Pie And Pee Wee" and "Johnny Fuller." Poster features a photo of The Coasters w/Dick Clark and lists song "Yakity Yak," "The Shadow Knows," "Searchin" and "Down Mexico Way." In 1958 Yakity Yak went to #1 on the R&B chart for seven weeks and spent a week at #1 on the Billboard Top 100. A 1/4" vertical margin tear at top right, corner tip wear and light bends in corners. Otherwise moderate age toning. VG. This poster dates from the height of the bands career and features one of their most memorable hits. The Coasters were widely influential on the development of rock 'n roll, doo-wop and R&B music influencing their contemporaries and artist throughout the 60s, 70s and beyond. They were the first group to be inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame as part of the 2nd class in 1987 alongside such luminaries as Muddy Waters, Bill Haley, Eddie Cochran, BB King and Aretha Franklin.
