Item Description
Offered are six of the seven Garbo buttons known to us that were issued between the early 1930s and 1960s. The one missing button is similar to the 1.75"  largest button in this collection and both were issued in the 1960s set by Sandyval Graphics which included two for Garbo among a total of 84 movie stars. The other five in this collection are all from sets issued in the 1930s. First is 7/8" litho by Green Duck from numbered set by unknown issuer. Second is 13/16" litho from set of 25 movie stars issued by Button Gum. Third is 1" from set 11 stars issued by Pender Breads of Norfolk, Va. although this is the version with back paper by Bastian rather than from the bread company. Fourth is 1.25" from set with unknown total issued by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and titled "Your Lucky Star Button". Last is 1-7/16" from movie star series made in Czechoslovakia with a high domed cello real photo (no dot screen) on a fancy brass frame with brass pin back. Cello has 1/8" surface crack at far left and lower half of image is lightly tanned. Still a wonder glossy image of a very young and beautiful Garbo. This is a rarity and the other five are uncommon to scarce and Exc. to Mint. See previous lot for Garbo and John Gilbert  pocket mirrors.
