Item Description
12x15.5" matted w/7x10.5" opening. Thin paper flyer issued by the "American Labor Party, Bronx County" advertising a "Public Demonstration At Yankee Stadium April 19th" 1952. Additional text includes "The Yankee Management Refused To End Their Discrimination Despite The Overwhelming Protests From The People" and "The Yankees Are The Only Lilly-White Team Representing New York." Two horizontal creases, a less than 1" vertical separation in top margin left of center and a tiny hole in top margin just right of center. Not examined out of matting. VG. A rare and important historical flyer w/incredible cross appeal. The Yankees finally integrated on April 14, 1955 after calling up former Kansas City Monarch Elston Howard. Only the Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox took longer to integrate their rosters.
