Item Description
2-1/8" w/N.G. Slater on curl. In 1958 and 1959 marches were organized by A. Phillip Randolph with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. serving as an honorary chairman. Other honorary chairman involved in these marches, aimed at unifying student movements in the North with those in the South to fight for integrated schools, included Roy Wilkins, Ralph Bunche, Jackie Robinson, and Daisy Bates. This button is likely from the second march in 1959. The Bill referenced was proposed in 1957 by Sen. Paul Douglas of Illinois. Faint light gray dot just left of center from bar pin construction. Cello. surface is super clean. NM.
