Item Description
14x22" on thin cardboard w/"Bill Posters And Billers Union Label" stamp in field at right. Advertising two concerts at Trianon Ballroom on Feb. 6. An elongated curvy portrait of the Jazz giant set against a background of floating musical notes all indicative of the Streamline Moderne Deco style prominent during the late '30s. Face had pencil marks, now removed, that are only faintly visible in reflected light. Restoration filling small holes at top affecting the first "N" in "Trianon" and at bottom just right of center affecting the blue background field. Otherwise moderate handling/corner wear, scattered foxing and faint damp stain along left edge. VG. Sturdy board, strong colors and outstanding design make this an especially attractive Duke Ellington poster that will frame beautifully. This design is considered the most coveted of any concert poster featuring the legendary American musical genius.
