Item Description
Long 3.25x106.75" paper strip features 22 film scenes (w/additional advertising panels and theater assembly instructions) from the 1934 MGM Tarzan film starring Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan. Issued by Hormel in 1934, the Hormel Theater was originally a product box containing three cans of Hormel soup that was then reassembled into a theatre. A pair of rollers advanced the paper filmstrip. The theater featured no Tarzan-specific images as theater was designed to be used w/other premium filmstrips. Filmstrip has 25 vertical creases as folded and some scattered aging but remains clean and VF/Exc. overall as never used. We have only offered the Hormel Theater once, but the filmstrip on its own is equally rare. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
