Item Description
Lot of three interesting and rare US Postal Savings holders done in a novelty fishing license style. 1942. These were most likely distributed in Bell aircraft factory that produced the Airacobra warplane, one of the main American and Allied fighter aircraft used during World War II. Each single-sided card measures 2.5x4-3/8" and features different image of Axis leader as fish. Mussolini card notes him as "Benito Bass" and has 10¢ war stamp adhered. Tojo card notes him as "Tojo Trout" and has 25¢ war stamp. Hitler card notes him as "Schickelgruber Salmon" and has 50¢ war stamp. Each has additional anti-Axis text. leader. Back of cards have die-cut lines around stamps for removal to purchase war bonds. All have even lt. aging and are o/w Exc. Interesting design and first we've seen of any in our 52 years.
