Item Description
Approx. 11x16.25" DC Comics artboard has pencil original art by Curt Swan, best known as the artist most associated w/Superman during the Silver Age of comic books. Swan produced hundreds of covers and stories from the 1950s through the 1980s. Art has been inked by Al Williamson. Art is for page 1 of "Superman" Vol. 1 #408, published by DC June 1985. Page features five panels, w/two inset panels within first splash panel of Metropolis, w/Clark Kent arriving at building at talking to Frank the doorman before stopping off at newsstand to pick up the day's edition of the "Daily Planet." He talks w/newsman and this panel is inset is larger splash panel in which we see Clark reading "Nuke Talks Collapse" headline. This ties into the "The Day The Earth Died!" storyline of this issue. Screentone accents in last two panels. Clark Kent is seen in all but one panel. Top margin has inked "S'Man" title and issue/page numbers. "Superman" comic title/logo and Siegel & Shuster credit stats pasted at top w/publishing indica stat paste-over strip at bottom. Back has DC copyright stamp. Each corner has been clipped and margins have slight trim. Scattered blue pencil editorial notations along left margin but art remains clean and Exc.
