Item Description
7.5" tall painted and glazed stoneware stein features classic hinged pewter lid w/figural ceramic Brownie policeman on top. Made in Germany, 1890s. Underside has incised "0131 - Made In Germany" notation along w/stein in triangle hallmark. High relief sides of stein feature wonderful wraparound scene showing 12 different Brownies on parade through the forest. Some Brownies of note include - German Peasant, Irishman and Uncle Sam. Incised "051" number on upper rim by handle. One of two different designs, this is full color version, steins were also made in blue/white and muted green/brown. Pewter has aged patina, but o/w stein is Exc. Exceptional quality and design. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
