Item Description
6-3/8x10.25" die-cut cardboard standee w/easel back features wonderful illustration of Brownies surrounded a huge box of Luden's Cough Drops, a few of which have spilled out of the box. Printed by The P.R. Warren Co. of Boston, MA for W.H. Luden of Reading, PA. 1890s. One of, if not the very first pieces of advertising featuring comic characters. The Dude Brownie looks on in awe at the cough drops as the Policeman Brownie shakes his baton at Brownies attempting to steal the menthol cough drops. Standee has even lt. aging and lt. edge/corner tip wear. VF overall. Very rare and historic, this is a desirable piece for both collectors of vintage advertising and Palmer Cox's Brownies. First we've offered in our 52 years. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
