Item Description
22" dia. spinner style large advertising clock for Eclipse Lawn Mowers. Clock was made by Time-O-Graph in 1950 as marked on back. Black crackle painted steel case w/plated chrome band around outside edge. Hanging hole on reverse as well as hanging chain mounted at top as made. Tin litho face w/"Eclipse Lawn Mowers Hand And Power Mowers" logo applied at center along w/"The World's Best Lawn Mower" promotional text. Clock has die-cut image of one of company's mowers in center that revolves as second hand. Clock is further enhanced by white neon tube around interior edge. Clock has replaced power cord, neon lights and clock works. Scattered wear to black crackle paint w/some trace oxidation w/larger section of oxidation along bottom edge of back. Scattered aging, but Fine overall. Rare and the first example we and others well versed in advertising collecting have seen.

After additional research, we have determined that this is a Kendall Oil clock (see lollipop sign pole image at 6 o'clock position). Apparently an Eclipse lawnmower dealer converted it by attached an early 1950s decal on it backing paper over the Kendall Oil image. The dealer also attached a cut-out mower image from a period brochure or advertising postcard to the center mounted spinner shaft to animate the clock. Although this is not a factory-produced clock, it was customized in the 1950s for dealership display and is most certainly unique.
