Item Description
Pair of classic and early Donald Duck buttons. 1.25" dia. cello "'Wanna Fight'" is Donald's first portrait button to promote his own character and dates from 1935. Complete w/aged backpaper picturing Mickey Mouse along w/"Walt Disney Enterprises" name and that of Disney's licensing agent "Kay Kamen." Button has wonderful image of the early long-billed Donald and the bottom edge includes "Walt Disney Enterprises" copyright. Glossy and Exc. 1.25" dia. cello shows early long-billed Donald from 1935 standing amidst rain drop accents w/tiny copyright symbol and "W. Disney" name below his feet. Text also reads "Dry In Any Weather - Norwich Knitting Co. Norwich, N.Y." One of only a few we've seen that has backpaper from maker, Orange Mfg. Co. of Newark, NJ. Scattered rim staining along bottom half of button, which is mostly confined to underside rim and is only really noticeable at center left. Front remains totally bright and glossy. Fine overall.
