Item Description
23.5x35x1.75" deep painted composition two-dimensional display depicts Donald Duck dancing w/cane in hand. Top of display is bordered by a Christmas bow and wreath. Raised "Donald Duck" name to right of his image. Made in England during the mid-1930s by Pytram Ltd (as noted by small decal on back), the Disney licensee for store displays in England. These English displays were identical to Old King Cole displays in materials and design. Display has scattered moderate aging w/some paint flakes to Donald's hat and bottom edge/corners of display as well as scattered dust soiling. Corners have four .25" holes from store display mounting. Fine overall. Display is complete and original as produced, w/no restoration or repair work of any kind. Shown in the 1934 Kay Kamen Christmas Promotion Book, this is one of 12 different designs, each featuring a single Disney character. A copy of the page w/this identical Donald Duck display comes along. This display is further enhanced as it's the very one used by the famous Harrods Department Store as noted by their label on back. All displays by this company are rare. A stunning display piece and a must-have for any serious collector of Disneyana and could easily become the focal point of your collection.
