Item Description
First is 1.25" button, no maker or back paper, with portrait and title "Billie Burke In Gloria's Romance Serial" released May, 1916 (music by Jerome Kern). It was Burke's second appearance as a film actress and quite the sensation for a Broadway actress of her magnitude to appear in a serial, which itself was unusual in that it was extra long at 20 chapters. Reverse metal oxidation a bit on the heavy side but cello remains Exc. and displays Mint. First seen, rare. Second is 1.75 x 2.75" pocket mirror by Parisian Nov. Co. Chicago (faint on curl). Very slight silvering loss. Celluloid reads "Kathleen Williams, Heroine In The Adventures Of Kathlyn/At The Queen/Twice Each  Month". Selig Polyscope Company filmed this 13 chapter serial in Chicago and released it 12/29/1913 with the novel it was based on released a few days later in January, 1914. This is considered the second serial by an American studio and the first of the "cliffhanger" style that proved to be immensely popular. Bottom left corner tip has tone trace. VF. First seen. Rare.
