Item Description
Early 1940s version club kit issued during World War II contains original mailing envelope (w/"Remember Pearl Harbor" inkstamp) w/Captain Marvel image and "Captain Marvel Club" return address and typed recipient name/address w/8.25x10-5/8" illustrated welcome letter that mentions various Fawcett comic book titles including "Whiz Comics, Captain Marvel Adventures" and "Captain Marvel Jr." among others. Letter also notes 200,000 club members and notes no club button can be sent due to wartime metal conservation. Folded as mailed w/some trace residue from envelope flap across Captain Marvel's legs, not distracting. Kit also contains unused membership card, "Captain Marvel's Secret Message" slip, illustrated decoder wheel featuring Fawcett heroes, and order slip for Fawcett comics. Envelope shows some aging/wear from mailing and letter has some aging. Both are Fine/VF while all else is NM. Comes w/different club mailing envelope w/different Captain Marvel image and matching typed recipient name. Neatly opened but missing flap, envelope has some noticeable moisture staining to margins on back. Fine. Comes w/different letter which also has World War II content and premium order sheet showing pennant, patch/emblems for Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr., skull cap and tie. Both have been folded as mailed and are VF overall.
